In the 2018 vintage, Cakebread like all their neighbors in the Napa Valley - had the perfect conditions to make exceptional wines. Right from the jump with a nice, cool spring, whispers of 2012 and greatness started to emerge. Then after a nearly perfect harvest, huge press started to leak. Forbes called 2018, “truly outstanding” and even a usually blunt Cathy Corison, called the vintage, “nearly perfect.” The top wines of the vintage echo that sentiment.
The 2018 edition of Cakebread Cabernet is a dark reddish/purple and full of aromas of cherries, blueberries blackberry pie and creme de cassis with some dried fruit and herbal notes. It’s definitely soft and approachable with no round edges and a great full-bodied mouthfeel that’s silky and lush.
