I Pentri, one of the hiddent gems of Italian winemaking who are crafting compelling artisanal white wines in Campania , none better than their L'Amore Della Api. No wonder L'Amore has been featured almost exclusively as a glass pour at Michelin star restaurant around the city for years
2019 Flora Falanghina - 94 Points
Candied lemon and ginger mixes with vanilla custards, baked apples and sweet smoke as the deeply alluring 2019 Falanghina Flora comes to life in the glass. Its textures are almost glycerol-like in feel, yet guided by brilliant acidity, as floral-laced orchard fruits mix with hints of lime under pretty inner florals. This becomes almost salty through the finale, displaying admirable structure and a pleasant inner sweetness that mingles with minerals and ripe green melon. The Flora tricks you into expecting an opulent expression on the palate, but then overdelivers with tension and character. You can drink the 2019 today or cellar it for a number of years. This is simply stunning.
The 2019 Fiano L'Amore delle Api is a more understated and delicately floral expression, as yellow flowers give way to savory herbs, wet stone and ginger-tinged apples. It’s soft in feel and almost succulent, like biting into a perfectly ripe piece of fruit, as salty minerals offset ripe tangerine, and a twang of sour citrus adds verve. This is remarkably juicy and fresh, tugging at the cheeks with residual tension and finishing long with hints of sage, mint and a flourish of candied lemon. The 2019 is so pretty today and should also excel through medium-term cellaring.
